As of June 30, CHN Energy had achieved a cumulative power generation of 594.9 billion kilowatt-hours this year, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, setting a new historical record for the same period.
In the first half of 2024, CHN Energy focused on ensuring stable power supply with coal-fired power generation and promoting the rapid and diverse innovation needed for the large-scale development of renewable energy. The group continually enhanced its ability to ensure energy and power supply, thereby supporting high-quality economic and social development.
In the first half of 2024, CHN Energy advanced the construction of major new energy projects such as the “Desert, Gobi and Barren Land” new energy bases and offshore wind farms in a coordinated manner. It commissioned several million-kilowatt-level new energy projects, including the 1-million-kilowatt photovoltaic project in Jinjie, Shaanxi Province, and the 1-million-kilowatt photovoltaic project supporting the Lingzhou-Shaoxing DC power transmission project. Its installed capacity of new energy surpassed 100 million kilowatts for the first time in history. CHN Energy also accelerated the development of hydropower projects in the Dadu River and Jinsha River basins, as well as in Qinghai, Xizang, and Xinjiang, with the commissioning of the No. 5 and No. 4 generation units at the Ma’erdang Hydropower Station adding 1.1 million kilowatts of new hydropower capacity. The group’s renewable energy generation increased by 21% year-on-year.
CHN Energy implemented detailed power industry operation management, advanced the high-standard construction of power operation and control systems, and integrated all data into a centralized database, establishing the largest real-time database on the power generation in China. This significantly improved the operation and control levels of the power industry. Continuous optimization of the new energy power forecasting model enhanced the group’s forecasting capabilities, resulting in a 159% year-on-year increase in photovoltaic power generation. The group fully implemented policies including the medium- and long-term power trading market, the power spot market, coal power capacity pricing, and green electricity certificates, seizing opportunities to expand the market and increase revenue, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. The average acquisition rate for electricity capacity prices reached 98%, and the group topped the 2023 list of China Top 100 Enterprises in Green Electricity (Green Certificates) Consumption.
