GD Jinsha River Xulong Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CHN Energy located in southwest China, has successfully restored over 100,000 square meters of land in an arid-hot valley region.
Through technical measures including targeted plant selection, soil improvement and water-saving irrigation, the project achieved vegetation coverage in this challenging environment characterized by high evaporation rates and poor site conditions.
As the first large-scale hydropower project approved after the enactment of the Yangtze River Protection Law, Xulong Hydropower has implemented phased soil and water conservation projects since 2023. The company conducted six dedicated research projects, producing outcomes such as the Feasibility Analysis Report on Comprehensive Management in Arid-hot Valleys and publishing three peer-reviewed papers, providing crucial technical support for the ecological restoration.
To date, the project has completed greening works covering 26,000 square meters in residential areas, significantly improving the local ecological environment. The technical achievements will serve as a valuable reference for building ecological barriers in arid-hot valleys along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
