Recently, CHN Energy has successfully brought the first generating unit of the Dadu River Shaping I Hydropower Station into operation. As a key project under Sichuan Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the station is located in Jinkouhe District of Leshan City. It is the 23rd hydropower station along the main stream of the Dadu River, with a total installed capacity of 360 megawatts. The Dadu River, a major tributary of the Yangtze River, is one of China’s key hydropower development bases.
To ensure the successful commissioning of the first unit, Dadu River Zhensha Branch implemented comprehensive safeguards, adopting a dual-shift operation schedule with professional staff on duty around the clock to monitor and adjust the unit’s operating conditions in real time. During trial operation, all parameters, including bearing temperature, vibration and shaft runout, met design requirements, ensuring safe and stable performance.
The Shaping I Hydropower Station is designed to house six bulb-type tubular turbine-generator units, each with a capacity of 60 megawatts. Once fully operational, the station will generate an average of 1.635 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, saving about 500,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1 million tons each year. The commissioning of the plant marks another step forward in optimizing Sichuan’s energy mix and advancing the region’s transition toward a clean and low-carbon energy system.
